The Underground Railroad

Through the different places visited in the novel, Whitehead takes us on a tour of the different way the United States has oppressed Black people throughout its history. The story is compelling, but at times alternately horrifying and depressing.

An American epic. Shorter than The Amazing Adventures Kavalier & Clay, but no less successful in creating an original hero.

The passage where they travel through a burned-out version of Tennessee will stay with me for a long time.
