Reading mostly SciFi and fantasy, with a little nonfiction, history and whatever else rolls my way.

Andi Harriman: Some wear leather, some wear lace : the worldwide compendium of postpunk and goth in the 1980s (2014) No rating

Fantastic visual and written deep dive into the subculture or post-punk/goth from the early DIY 80's to it's untimely 90's commodified death. Many incredible make up and hair looks, androgyny, gender play, leather, latex, lace and so so much more.

Nick Soulsby: Everything Keeps Dissolving (2022, Strange Attractor, Strange Attractor Press)

the new backwards; or how I quit Psychic TV for the pursuit of hollistic outsider electronics

Coil's legacy, be it through sound, ideas, poetry or composition continues to shape my understanding of all experiences around me. I am thankful for this deep dive into their interviews, minds, sense of humour and mortality. Loved how many times Marc Almond seemed to interrupt an interview with a laugh and a reminder for a cup of tea.

a fun look into the Blinko mind. I guess I found the Lovecraftian last chapter a little self indulgent, but I suppose that's the whole point of a semi-autobiographical adventure into the dark and twisted mind. Big fan of all the illustrations and art included.

Ian Glasper: The Day the Country Died (Paperback, 2006, Cherry Red Books)

Everything good about punk happens when all the punx continually swap band members and consistently release each others music, regardless if it's the next best thing. The format of the book definitely got a little tiring, but all the personal stories and deep dives on bands that played like 6 shows and never released a demo is extremely cool. For the big Anarchopunk heads that need more than what wikipedia can provide. Might be a slog if you are tired of hearing about the same 30 people making basically the same song at a variety of speeds.
